iPhone Turns Computer Off
« on: December 17, 2007, 07:12:58 PM »
My problem is that every time i try to sync my iPhone to my computer it switches it off. The only way i can get it to work is boot into recovery, then restore to 1.1.1 and re do the whole process. The iphone is a 8gb and jailbroken with these following 3rd party apps installed:
lights off
othello
NES
4 Balls
Sysinfo
ContraSense
Send Song
Screenshot
Tetromino
iBlackjack
iSolitare
Mines
TicTacToe
Sudoku
Installer
Music Quiz
Hua Rong Dao
Mixup
Sketches
vnotes
FiveDice
BSD Subsystem
OktoPrep

Im running windows XP,use iBricker for files and have itunes 7.5. i know that it isn't my computer because i had to re-install windows and the same thing. it always works after i restore it so any help would be appreciated because i dont want that to be my only option again, and again.
Lots of gaming stuff but too lazy to mention =]

It's deffinately one of the apps causing the problem, i used summerboard on mine before and it would freeze and sometimes not show any icons on the home screen, games would not affect the iphone so lets see, can it be BSD, althou im using 1.0.4 my friend is on jailbroken/unlocked 1.1.1 he only ever used installer to download apps, and his phone runs fine.
try to install the iphone apps one by one and check if each one causes the problem. Applications on ibrickr arent always reliable, i the red flashlight app messed my phone up before...

yeh im pretty sure it is an app tho but i installed all the apps while having the iphone connected to comp. BSD Subsystem cant be uninstalled, only reinstalled. Also whn i meant i use ibrickr i didnt mean for apps, i just use it to kick the phone out of recovery mode.

ive done most of this stuff on my itouch
the ones i havent used yet
kept freezing/ messing up on my ipod so i uninstalled it
never actually worked for me

i also have been running my ipod + itunes on a friends computer with vista, so im not sure bout that, but i also havent synced my ipod with it cuz i use it with multiple computers, so i have a feeling you should just not sync and still d/l your music, vids, etc.

you cant not sync it, to copy music over u cant drag and drop lyk the old ipods. You can only sync playlists or sync checked music. Also i tried uninstalling everything possible and the same problem, im gonna have to try on my sis comp later and let u guys know what happens.

just to let u all know that i have sort of found out the problem. It turns out that a certain driver used by the iphone makes the computer freeze up and stop but the iphone only uses this driver when u have taken pictures. The reason for this is another driver used by a webcam or something similar collides with this but i do not have a webcam or anything similar.Re-installing windows(comp backup) doesn't help because every time i do that it is re-installing a driver so im gonna ask this in the comp section soon unless a admin/mod could move the topic for me? but thanks for the help 1sniper and neubit.
