How to create Pearlescent Paint Effect on PS2?

Im thinking of painting my PS2 and i would like to know if there is a way of creating a Pearlescent Effect on it? (in other words flip paint, colour changes when light is moved around the PS2).

Also what is the best way to apply this kind of paint, Airbrush or Spraypaint?

How can this be done?

i would say use automotive paint and just follow the instructions on the wiki.

proper he said he needs pearlescent paint,man u will need to airbrush it cos i asked in a local auto paint shop whether they sell it in a can and they said no,so ur gunna have to buy and airbrush set,get a good one for around $40,trust me its worth it for your other projects),now pearlescent paint can get very expensive,depending on how many colours you want it usually goes up the same way computer memory does,and starts at 32 but 32 colours is only 2 colours realistically,because it is a gradient,64 colours is 4 colours and 128 is 8 colours etc,you can go higher but the further up you go the much more expensive the paint gets e.g 512 pearlescent can cost up to 150$ per litre!,you should be able to get a litre of 32 colour pearlescent (including mixing) for around $30,and remember the airbrush is only half the battle,u need to take it slowly and use around 6 coats inc. primer and striker coats and never ever ever apply one big ass coat or it'll run like the wind,and trust me man plz plz plz dont get one of those cheap ass sets in walmart,i bought one recently for 100 euro and its so awesome,but it aint for modding,its too big,i paint cars with my uncle,anyways dude the bottom line is tke it slowly and dont be afraid to hand out the cash to do this right cos in the end it'll look awesome and then u have the kit to do it with other consoles too!

oh whoops  silly me. You can probably get airbrush kits from model craft shops quite cheap aswell.

airbrush prop can be good at 1st but expensive in the long run,i use a really funky compressor that's latched onto your belt design for airbrushing..i love it!!!!!!but for big stuff i use my dad's big compressor

ive never been that good at airbrushing, ive had one hell of a time thinning the paint.

I am thinking of creating the pearlescent effect by using this:

I will use 2 coats of Primer on the PS2 and then apply about 2-3 coats of the pearl touch. To finish it off i am thinking of using a clear coat, but what is the best clear coat?

I also want to apply a design using Glow in the Dark spray paint which will make it stand out.

What do you guys think of my idea? Is it worth doin or will it be a waste of time?

well thats up to you to decide, but i would suggest trying this on something else first so if you mess up its not that big of a deal.

Duplicolor as a set.  i never tried it but i really like their paint.  the set includes primer, the perlesent paint and clear coat, so all you need is probably sandpaper if you plan on a smooth paint job.

it comes in cans and cost about 20.

the only problem i believe is the colors.  you have fives types to choose.

Another interesting suggestion would be to purchase a bunch of nail polish and load it into an air gun.  Works like a charm and you have a larger variety for colors.  The colours are rich and it's also cheaper then automotive paint (if you're running low on cash).

I did the same thing for a project in highschool but you must sand whatever surface you're working on.  Plus side is you don't ahve ot use primer if you don't want to (but it's a good idea) and you won't have to apply as many coats.

it would take alot and i mean alot of nail polish to paint it though,unless you can buy it in bulk it would turn out about 20 times more expensive lol
