apple needs to work on boot camp still
« on: January 04, 2008, 11:05:38 PM »
i finally got my system running, and im very happy

also i was running boot camp 2.0, drivers installed from the disk

i spend the past 3 hours trying to figure out why it was crashing, it kept crashing when i tried to do simple things, and even when i tried to defragment (thats the big test)
3 hours later (now) i finally find buried deep deep deep down in apple discussion something about WLAN and it being disabled causing crashes for someone...i was disabling wlan in windows for fear of viruses :o ... so i put two and two together, booted, left wireless on (as i would turn it off) and tried to defragment..and it started defragmenting sucessfully

APPLE! update your drivers! simple tiny things take forever to figure out! there are still annoying bugs!
as for vista transformation pack, im going to attribute the crashes to this WLAN issue and will be posting a take-back comment later

Holy crap dude, for all the time you spent working on it you should just get a job and buy a real vista PC so you don't worry about all the problems

no, the bootcamp 2.0 drivers are installed via the Mac OSX 10.5 Leopard (best os evar :D) disk
hopefully updates and patches, though, will be available from apple through the internet

HEEYALL NAW!
vista is slow and has a lot of problems right now, i have XP with a vista mod only because it looks nice, and i greatly prefer macs anyway, and i doubt im going back to pc ever.. apple claims it runs windows faster which is true, but they also claim it runs natively, which isnt as, and they still need to work on small bug fixes like that

as for a job im looking into the apple store and, no, im not kidding, i have been considering it since the summer, but i need my liscense...

plus PC's are not good at running mac, and even if they can, its illegal and my favorite OS is mac osx, and my favorite hardware consists of those in the mac family (we just got my dad a new imac and daaayyym is it beautiful)

im never going to use vista.. XP is a lot better, i can still play games, and OSX is the best OS i've ever used

I hope you mean aesthetically, because gaming hardware is best when custom (nothing beats the smell of new parts)

im never going to use vista.. XP is a lot better

I was under the impression that you ran Vista, LOL

yea with apple care a bit over $3000

and my dads new imac with apple care was about $3200 and windows is being installed on that as i type

each one worth every penny

but my main point: apple is great, i love it, just really expensive :o and in this case and a few leopard cases, they need fixes
i heard 10.5.2 update for osx is due in january so thats good.. but have heard nothing about boot camp updates..they should really fix this bug i guess but otherwise windows werks

What kind of FPS can you get with your Mac running crysis on High settings?

on all highs on my macbook its like 10  :faint:

but when i turn a select few to medium or low, and i get the 'lexus silentium' configuration mod it runs really well at 26 fps, even in dense forested areas, however it may vary based on what im looking at (so if im on the mountain looking at the whole map and all the activity or im just shooting TONS of enemies then it will be a bit slower but very much still playable, and certainly better than a macbook, [woot for pro!]

yes! the hardware is expensive! but i love it and the OS so to me its worth it while to others it may now, whatever XD we can buy whatever computer we want as long as we can afford it, and we have the power to choose and make judgement (woot free will)

my free judgement says: APPLE! update your drivers and check for all bugs before you declare it flawless! still it works but what if i wanna turn my wifi off!?

Yeah, that price barrier is the only thing preventing me from getting one.  For 3 grand I could get

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz Processor
2 GeForce 8800GTX 768MB in SLI Mode  (:censored: Yeah)
Ageia PhysX 128MB GDDR3 Physics Accelerator Card
2GB DDR2 @ 800MHz
G5 Mouse
500GB

And still have 300+ for a monitor

That beats any OS out there LOL
