Larger Internel Speaker
« on: January 14, 2008, 06:46:38 PM »
If I bought a pack of these. http://www.opamp-electronics.com/~opamp/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=31&products_id=210, how can i wire them so i can use them as a larger speaker? If so, how?
They are 2in by 2in and the psp ring is 2in by 2in. It should fit behind the UMD door perfectly.

i saw a guy put a slightly larger speaker IN the umd door, replacing the ring entirely, thats what i would do, and put a small protection cage around the speaker its self, thatd be neat

First of all, in order to power such a size speaker, you need to get an output audio transformer. It is like a mini audio amplifier, and similar to the sound chip power wire schematic connections is problably the same way you would wire the audio transformer. There are many types of audio transformers and sizes so do some research before selecting choice.

i reccommend using a sound chip to amplify the sound and the wiring is easy put the positive and negative to the speaker once you wired it to chip

i just tried to plug the positive and negative into the white connectors on the motherboard. the sound came out but it was not loud. it wasnt even louder than the original speakers. so i use the LM386 and wire the positive and negative to the output of the chip? what resistors do i need?
