socom microphone ??? - phone mic and two headphones or a jack
« on: January 29, 2008, 12:14:22 PM »
ok so i have this microphone from a phone headset - can it be wired to the psp

it has 6 wires

left of picture top down
- mic in or out ? / - (brown)
- mic in or out ? / + (red)
- speaker in or out ? / - (green)
- speaker in or out ? / + (red and green)

right of picture top down
- speaker power / + (green)
- speaker output / - (brown)

- the block in the middle is a switch i dont know what it will do when pressed or weather it will effect the mod ???

here is the reverse

is there any way for me to just hook it up to this

it has three wires

- power / + (red)
- left earphone / ? - polarity unknown (brown)
- right earphone / ? - polarity unknown (blue)

and then plug it into my headphone remote to use with socom

- could i wire a jack to the speaker output on the board so i can use my normal headphones ???

it has one headphone coming out of the top - could i get a second set of headphones - the ones i took off the connector to plug into the psp and wire them straight to the board wiring the power to the power and the left and right earphones to the output instead of the one and it will send sound down both ???

- i dont really want to hardmod one psp as i would like to use it with multiple ones and to be external for better reception and comfort

- lastly will i have to use my headphone remote for this - making it fat compatible only or could i use it without and use it on my slim aswell

thanks

the switch is for answering the phone ;)
and i'm not 100% sure if it will work, i think it will work you just need to know which wire you need to connect to which wire

To all of you crying about lag and kicks, remember… when Jesus died, took him 3 days to respawn. Now THAT is lag.

as you can see there is where you can wire in the mic that is pin 1&2 these pins are turned on when you have an audio jack in place, or you could turn them on (without an audio jack) with the LOCOROCO plugin by MR305

or could take apart your remote and wire it in to the four points for the socom headset, I can't remember which is which, but I would try tip to bottom - left, right, mic, ground.  either way it isn't too hard.

thanks - my headphone remote broke and when looking at the wires the colors are exactly the same as the mic and headphone ones so it is really easy for me now - all i have to do is match the wires i tested it out with some crocodile clip wires and it worked fine - thanks for your help everyone ill post the finished result

thanks -  i have got it all set up and know which wire goes to which and have tested it with arts audio mechanica - for the mic recording - which was wired with crocodile clips and worked fine so when i solder it, it should be as good as the proper ones maybe even better. i might also put a headphone jack on the top of the audio output so i can use any headphones with it too, infact to make it even more sick i might wire the microphone to a male headphone connector and then wire that to the jack so that i can plug a different mic in if i want.

thanks

i hope it goes well - it should do
