disc read error

i just got a wii but it keeps getting disc read errors. whenever i put in a wii disc itll give me the DRE. but when i put in a gamecube game it works fine. how do i fix this without sending it to nintendo?

In the end you probably will have to send it back to nintendo unless you want to spend $100 for a new Wii Drive. Probably was a faulty laser, or a laser that was damaged during shipping somehow.

the question is how is it faulty when it can read gc games but not wii games

Honestly, I'm not sure, maybe the laser can't move enough to read the disc?

I have the same problem but for me it reads Wii Games not Gamecube games

Was your Wii making a Clicking sound when they didn't read the discs? Cause mine occasionally has the problem of not reading Wii Discs, but when it doesn't read them, it makes a Clicking noise.
