Help

So I have this slim right and when I use the Home button it goes to the screen but I can't pick yes or no. The Start button does not work but when I go to games the start menu flashes on and off and when I try to enter text the text screen flashes and I'm right back to where I was at with no change to the text. Being the idiot I am I voided the warranty already so is it possible for me to open it up and fix it or am I just SOL?
