What's the psp's potential?
« on: February 05, 2008, 08:08:15 PM »
Hi

Does anybody know of a way of how to overclock the psp even further. We all know if you update to any firmware above 3.50 you can clock the cpu upto 333mhz. But does anybody know how to clock the cpu beyond this magic limit of 333mhz and also the psp graphics chip which runs at 166mhz can this be overclocked

Most seem rather content to run their system at it's max recommended speed rather then the 222MHz that it defaults to most of the time.

I imagine that because of the heat it wouldn't be a good idea, but if you manage it post some screens or even test videos and let us know how it goes.

I know it's been overclocked further, I can't remember the website I saw it, but apparently he got to 400MHz when the PSP got Xbox 360 hot and cooked itself. It was a purely software mod.

id notice a difference in load times but im sure it is possible just may be safer to do it on an opened up psp so that you can disipate heat better

i have found less and less use in my umd drive recently because i have been running ripped games and i am thinking about just doing the fan mod and the internal hard drive mod and geting rid of the umd. Then overclocking my psp a lil bit farther . But we will see.

Overclocking the GPU would be nice.
