ipod touch questions [jailbreaking,downgrading etc]

first off i am posting this on my brand new itouch...now onto the problem, earlier 2day I downgraded my touch to 1.1.1 or whatever its called:p eberything was working perfectly, and then I went onto jail breakme.com , clicked install , it exited safari and then nothing happened, so i did it again and nothing happened. Next i connected to itoons and it told me there was a problem and ineeded to restore so I clicked ok and it updated me to 1.1.3. I then proceeded to buy the jan soft update. (which is awesome) anyways my question is...what did I do wrong ? And if I duwngrade / jailbreak be it works (by some miracle ) will I have to spend another £13 on the jan software update?

I never had to downgrade or anything when i jailbroke, although I was already on 1.1.1. Sorry I can't be of more assistance, it was jsut as easy as clicking on a link for me =P

you wont have to re buy it

after i had to re-restore to 1.1.3, i had previously bought i, it was empty, no apps either, but then i just relaoded all my stuff and it added my apps back. its in the itunes receipt, and you bought it so its yours

as for jailbreaking right out of 1.1.3 i found a way, but the terminal/command prompt version ive used for osx/xp respectively has'nt worked

i got the GUI one that is supposed to work but i first need to d/l the .net framework (im at school and cant)

anyway the command promt version was closer, just my ipod apparently wasn't recognized, so that may be why it didnt work @_~

anyway this is called ziphone, it was made for iphone (to unlock, jailbreak, and activatE) but they run the same software so it should work no prob...(just jailbreak, no unlock and activate)

Are there Custom Firmwares for iPods? or once your jailbroken is that it, you can update normally?

Nope you don't update normally or through installer.
On JB 1.1.1 you run octoprep and then Official 1.1.2 update from iTunes.Then jailbreak. On 1.1.2 you follow a tut online cuz I haven't done that yet lmao I might be doing it today though, not sure.

If you update without doing certain stuff your :censored:ed and need to dowgrade and jailbreak again.

no you cant update normally you will need to wait for a new hack to be found before updateing. and all there is is jailbreaking no custom firmware.

and kicks for the 1.1.3 jailbreak i think if you use the unlock.no source or something you can install a package on your touch that does the whole proccess for you without connecting to itunes

EDIT2: im upping to 1.1.3 jailbroken right now, but first i tried pocket guitar and its really awesome!!!

EDIT3: on jailbroken 1.1.3!! took forever, had to d/l BSD, reboot, d/l the installer app, reboot, use installer app, and the isntalle thing took forever and had to d/l files during! now im resyncing with itunes so i should have my january apps back, i did pay! looks awesome so far! got 1.1.3 with installer and the pocket guitar!!!! omg im so happy
i lost the link for the how-to-install, will check my browser history and post back asap.

hot diddity.... im stuck on 1.1.3 also, but idk for how long anymore, im following the tut now, idk if ill do it or not but ill see
i just need to backup my load of stuff i have on this thing
especially how to get it all ive used more than just my itunes library, ill need to see if the peeps will let me spend all the time d/ling it again at their houses

i was actually doing it right the first time minus one thing, i didnt put it in recovery mode

but d/l the 1.1.1 software, go to recovery mode, hook up to itunes, tell it to restore with 1.1.1, and it restored fine

i jailbroke, found a tut to upgrade to 1.1.3 jailbroke, tried, didnt work, found fix (reboot after installing bsd, then reboot after installing the jailbreak/update app, then run app) the only issue being it took a while and had to d/l files in the middle (which is normal)
did the 1.1.3 spare files fix to free uncecesarrily taken up space, and viola 1.1.3 jailbroken

got the pocket guitar app which is fun, some more apps, everything seems to work fine, and im loving jail-breakyness again

i must not forget: please read this :IMPORTANT!!! read the last post after reading the first post, it explains to reboot after installing each thing that post #1 (the actual tut) says, if you do not then it wont work, the installer will just stop!

i think you need to sync it with itunes again to register it with y our itunes acount - make sure your signed into your itunes acount when you sync it i think as i had that problem a few years back

they wont play if i bought it from itunes, which fortunately most of it isnt but i'd prefer if it all did

gotta scour installer to see if there is a fix
