How did he do that? (video)
« on: February 19, 2008, 09:03:35 AM »
How did the guy do that the leds flash just when there is sound? Normally they stay lightened a bit even when there is no sound. I already tried using the LM386 audio chip but they stay on anyways. Thx

u might've used too high ohm resistors from the speaker, you do know you can do this mod without an lm386 just hook em str8 up to the speakers and it works much better

yes i know and i already did it but i found it too dim and i didnt like that the leds stayed on all the time so now i want the leds flashing just when there is sound, so i could use a stronger resistor to get that effect?

Yep should give you the effect you want.

oh right yes i know what your talking about,i only did this on the xbox but you should catch my drift,on the lm386 on the top left and top right pins put a small capacitor (about 15uf methinks) between them so this will set a gain or vu,this basically means that the led only turns on when there is sound

you did something WRONG
why do u constantly say stupid stuff thats totally irrelevant?
anyways dude you can also use resistors so i recommend tryin it with alot of different cappacitors because they change depending on your leds and the amount of them, use capacitors because they dont flash sharply they kinda pulse instead resistors are kinda crappy to use with it cos u need ridiculous size resistors to set a decent gain (300k ohm+)

Use an LM741CN IC Op Amp with a Capacitor. Idea courtesy of PvP_LostKnight.

lm386 is the best out there for its purpose,it also uses less power tan the rest but still does a better job,no he doesnt need a higher quality one he just needs to set up his gain right..
did you get this working tibor?
