auto send viruses?

i have a friend whose Windows Messenger keeps sending auto send messages containing viruses

the message i got is as follows:

5:34:11 PM Noah  Radding: cant see it
5:34:17 PM Noah  Radding: what file type is it

5:34:29 PM [c=55]charlie[/c]: dont open!!!!
5:34:37 PM [c=55]charlie[/c]: damit its still going on
5:34:42 PM [c=55]charlie[/c]: its a dasmn virus

5:35:07 PM Noah  Radding: its okay im in OSX
5:35:16 PM Noah  Radding: i just moved everything to trash and did a secure trash empty
5:35:19 PM Noah  Radding: no traces
5:35:26 PM Noah  Radding: what is that and why is it happening?

5:35:55 PM [c=55]charlie[/c]: its ben going on sence yesterday

5:37:07 PM [c=55]charlie[/c]: well i got norton anti-virus and i reinstalled windows and its still going on


as he said he has norton and reisntalled the whole OS

any idea what's going on? i'd rather unblock him (i blocked him as a security measure for my windows)

he downloaded a mod to his MSN and it was a virus apparently, or he's screwing with yeah

i know a few people that have this, but they dont know its happened, bascially, a file transfer comes up

it says "man, you gotta tell me why i lol'ed so hard at these pictures"

one time, i accepted it, but nod32 just slapped it in the face and made it go.

i had sumet like this you need to use an anti spyware tool like adaware to detect and remove the automessager

yeah the problem got fixed...though some others were affected

I'd just completely uninstall MSN, as im guessing he didnt do a wipe install? Just an overlay

yeah he was sending it to me also, it had a few different versions to it. facebook, myspace, lol'ing...
i didnt believe them
they were in files like
"pic515_JpG.exe and
  ^ with difft numbers
i was saying if its a file that needed to be opened in winrar, then its more then just a picture

apparently it got nic0, but he got it fixed

I set it up to autoscan at 3 AM, and it automatically updates for me, and it immunizes IE and helps protect FF!  It's great!

noah i got this from my friend zomg...... but it was on my parents mac.......... and wether i like to say it or not it seems alright what should i do i moved it to trash and dumped it is that enough im gonna fricken backshmack the chick who gave it to me. Why do people not just close down msn when theyre done.

i got one from him..when i d/l'd it, t'was the same type of unrecognizable file

luckily in OSX, trash'd, safe empty'd
