m3 real perfect gui choppy

as the subject says. i was using r4. then got the m3 real to play gba. the gba exp was working with r4, now it doesnt, it doesn't even work with the r4 without the gba in it. m3 gui is real choppy and some games won't load because it says Save File Error

Does the M3 Real play GBA w/o a slot 2 or does it need it anyway? I was saving up to buy this one.

The M3 Real needs the GBA Exp Pak for clean GBA Roms to work.  There might be a way around it but I've always used the Exp Pak.
