Razor X in Slim By LordNico..
« on: March 30, 2008, 02:04:45 PM »
Hey all, here is L0rdNic0's PSP Slim with Dual Nubs. The wiring to the header pins is a little hard, but the over all installation is cake. The RazorX adds smooth operation since there are no bubbles of solder or wires to interfere with the spring. We here at AcidMods will be working on a no hassel way of installing the RazorX in the Slim that will include a relocation of the power switch to the Start button using a digital switch as posted in one of my other videos. Keep an eye out. NOTE: This install is 100% fully functioning without any issues.

here is a video of it in action..

Here is a sneek peek of the inside of the slim with the razor X in place.

Here is the Razor X with the face plate on..

Special thanks to Cyber for editing my video footage for me.  Hope you guys like the Video and sorry that my PSP trim looks shabby I use that PSP everyday as an MP3 player and TV   :winker:

Details, yes the Charging port needs to be removed and the power board too. At the time of this video recording, I had not installed the electronic switch, but now to turn the PSP on and off you need to hold the start button down for five seconds. Ten seconds to hard boot it, or use a magnet (love the security mod). Some time ago I had done the USB Mod so I didn't have to use Sony's charging method (this was before DAX created a Hack in CFW). Anyway now I can charge my slim even when its powered off so I guess it works out.. BTW the spring is easy to work with, just takes practice.

no, no need for a Phat the contact points are easy to solder to. The PSP Slim is a different story but we dont want to give away to many details just yet.

cool, will you sell this mod later? cos i would do it my self on the phat and all, but i dont even want to open my slim (my precious).  Or maybe someone (hobby) professionals in england rather (since i live in norway). I thought i never would want to mod my slim, but you changed my mind Nico :)

but since the mod is not really ready for the public yet suits me okay, cos living on my own is hard enough, need to save up some moneys

That is just a board, you will need a Analog Nub from a PSP, Kynar, Solder, Dremel, Etc. and a tut to be released.

K don't yell if the answer's obvious, since I don't play that many fps, but how does remapping the X[]/\O buttons to the second analog nub help you move your screen around? I thought the X[]/\O buttons are generally used for stuff like jumping, reloading, etc. etc.... or am I missing something here?

Great item i love that there is a kit for front or full case with it included, less the actual stick. But in my past hour of searching and fidguring out exactly what this mod does i feel the need to ask why not make it better?  Espically if one is expected to drop 10-30 euro for this kit. I have just a sudjestion i suppose. I recall playing most all my ps1 / ps2 / ps3 games shooters and all with right joy and left directionals. I understand wanting to map the buttons for use with psp fps, but why not take it another step add a button or switch with some simple wiring and map it so one can toggle the use of that new 3rd stick.  For example a toggle switch to swap between what part its mirroring, between the X O etc buttons, push toggle button and switch to mirroring the directional buttons, push it agin and it mirrors the left analog.  I also understand that this could be difficult to mirror the left analog but it would be worth fidguring out wouldnt it? =P

Please think about it, it would rock for manny more games if it had this functionability. =)

[edit]
Dont know forsure but from the image of the analog sticks bottom view ( http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.10648 ), seems like it could possibly be straight 4 direction wiring neway.  :dntknw:

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3373           bottoms wiring connections look pritty similar. but so what if the image i posted isnt the exact one used.   point be both seem to have 4 points.. would lead me to belive shiny silver = ground and the 4 points are on off switches for up down left right.. but i dunno(i belive i said that before). But the guy whos making the kit surely knows the interworking of it. point being... its possible... why not do it?

If it was that easy why would we invent the razor??

no

just the razor board
phat top part of the joystick (which includes the spring, top plastic part, and the analog nub and the thing that the nub itself attaches too)

To all of you crying about lag and kicks, remember… when Jesus died, took him 3 days to respawn. Now THAT is lag.

why is shipping on the razor x board $13 for a piece that is smaller then a letter. can't it simple mailed in a letter? for a fraction of the cost i want the part but it is a total of $37 with shipping this just seems high don't you think?
