got a chip but i'm not sure if it is the lm386

i got this chip here
but i'm not sure if it is a lm386 chip
i got the chip out of a AV car audio amplifier

it looks thesame as the lm386 chip so that is why i ask
the chip has this written on it

nope that is a 4558 chip, one moment, i will look it up, see what it is...  The 4558 series is Op-Amps, (Operational Amps) it may work for the sound mod, but you will have to do some testing with resistors, and such, since op-amps and sound amps function slightly differently...

It's a dual amplifier, runs at 18v and is way out of the range the PSP can give.

ok thank you guys :D

i managed to get the resistors out of the amplifier so that isnt going to be a problem
looks like i'll have to buy a lm386 then soon :)

The range says 4v to 18v...  So you could use it, since the 386 series has a range of 4v to 15v....

I've got a couple laying around, and would test it out for use with the sound mod, but not until I get the kinks out of my stereo sound mod chip...  dang things giving me headaches...
