wtf??

ok i got the feeling i did something wrong..
well i have been wanting to put some leds on my psp using the 5vlt source, but i didnt have any resisters. well i got some today(10 ohm 1/4 watt) and i soldered one to led with the resister on the positive side and put it on the 5vlt source. it was going good for like 10 seconds, but then the color (blue) got  kindu dim and bright just like when its about to break apart from heat wen i had no resister, and thats wut it did, it broke (the solder melted). i dont know wuts wrong and please dont tell me i got the wrong resister >.>
btw im using 0603 leds

yeh, wrong resistor, i dunno if they have them, but i think you ned a 110 ohm resistor

xD, good thing i didnt get the 110 ohm
well a friend told me to get a 10 ohm 1/2 (not the 1/4) watt resister, well my mum was going into town so i told her to get em. when she gets home she gives me em and it sais 10-k ohm, so im like crap, its not supposed to be k (dont no wut the k is) but anyway i go and change the resister to my new one, well the led doesnt like pop, but.. its realy realy dim, and its wired to the 5vlt, it doesnt even light my trigger, and btw were in the world is the resister supposed to go? its huge! xD. my screen would nvr fit.
