psp acts wierd?

this isnt nothin that rly bothers me, but i just want to know why it does this. when im testing out leds on my psp my screen is usauly off right, well i turn my psp and i see the mem led blink so i know its on, but after awhile wen i try to turn it on, well it doesnt turn (no blinky mem led) then i  plug the screen in.. ..it work.
anybody have this happen to em or no why?

i think it goes on standby cos it cannot find the screen
