<--My Project--Complete Chaos--I Need HELP--> *UPDATE* FAN
« on: April 20, 2008, 04:28:32 PM »
Let me get this started

**what i want to do**
1- ADD SOUND REACTIVE LEDS TO MY PSP ABOUT 42 ( I KNOW THIS IS CRZY)
2- ADD INTERNAL BATTERYS TO MAKE UP FOR BATTERY LOSS FROM LEDS
3- ADD EXTERNAL SPEAKER
4- PUT A SHEILD OVER THE SPEAKER
5- IN THE SHEILD PUT A JEWEL WITH LEDS
6- PAINT MY CLEAR BACKPLATE WITH GREEN CLEAR PAINT

OK HERE ARE SOME PICS

HERE IS THE BACKPLATE AND THE CLEAR PAINT

HERE IS THE SHEILD THINGY I SPRAYED IT MYSELF

HERE ARE THE BATTERY'S I WANT TO MAKE INTERNAL

HERE IS MY CHROME ORANGE FACEPLATE AND SHIELD AGIAN

HERE IS THE SPEAKER AND RESISTORS FOR SOUND MOD 30K OHM AND 191K OHM

***WAT I WANT TO KNOW***
1- HOW CAN I HOOK UP 42 SOUND REACTIVE LEDS TO MY PSP
2- HOW CAN I ADD THE BATTERYS TO MY PSP AND WILL THEY CHARGE
3- HOW CAN I CONNECT THE SPEAKER TO A LM386 CHIP
4- HOW CAN I FIT A JEWEL INSIDE OF THE SHIELD THINGY

*update* ok i was thinking and all those leds and batterys r going to get hot so why not add to the chaos and put in a fan

THANK U FOR UR HELP

1.  Parallel
2.  Parallel (actually not that easy, it depends on the voltage of the batteries you plan on adding, and the voltage you wish to output from them...) , and they should charge, if you hook em up to the right place.
3.  don't know, you will have to experiment
4.  again, don't know, will have to experiment with scrap pieces...

if your gonna do that battery thing you should make them external, cause unless im seeing that photo way outof proportions, it aint gonna fit. maybe you can just solder them to like the battery or other power points and use a simple plug in so you can take them out, or in.

if i were you and i wanted to wire up that many leds. i would buy a pulseVU at sickmods. since the chip can handle that much with a power extender.

http://shop.sickmods.net/product/PulseVU_2/

not only that you'll have 42 sound reactive and FADING leds

and since all of those leds will connect to your pulsevu. its as simple as 1 switch. and you can easily wire up one of those batteries to it (if its a 5v).

good luck dude and geeze where would you put 42 leds.

Well... you should just wire them up to the pins by where the battery goes into the mobo. I dont know if it would work, what is the voltage input of psp batteries?

thanx for that tip but i rather do it with out that
also about were i am going to put the leds here is my plan
--> a green and orange led in the o,x,^,[]
a green and orange one in each trigger
a green and orange one in the up,down, left, and right
4 green and orange leds in the jewel
4 green and orange leds in the umd door
2 green and orange leds by the battery cover
2 green and orange leds by the wifi board
and possibly more if they r needed
also i want to wire up all the orange leds to one switch and all the green leds to another same for the speaker

OK, 3.6v batteries...  If wired in parallel, they will output a total of 3.6v, with a total amps of whatever the mAh of each of the batteries added together...  If you were going to wire them in series, the total output would be (I count 7 extra batteries) 25.2v, which would require a regulator to be added into the circuit...

And just to shut every one up about complaining about "it won't work...  You can't power that many LEDs...", the fact of the matter is, when wired in parallel, the LEDs will all receive the same voltage, but that isn't the problem, the problem is the ampiers, that is what is really needed in order to run the LEDs, what j.s2ghetto has decided to do is to add the extra batteries in order to deliver more mAh to the unit.  With a standard 1800mAh PSP battery, you could run 90 20mA LEDs for one hour, that's not including running the PSP, just the LEDs, with the PSP on as well, the time would be much shorter...

1: will not fit

hey y not just map and attack the leds to the case and the just power the lights with the other batt and the just attack the speaker to ur  board and find a small sound sendors used in a lot of small toys and it should still work
and then you just add the fan behind the speaker (as to not mess with the sound) and since sound traavels using air u might get e little boost in trebble.

Where are you gonna put a fan with a speaker taking practically all the PSP back?

The idea of the fan is to put it in the UMD door since from there the air can flow to all parts of the PSP except the battery, cooling the mobo.

I really don't know how you gonna fit all those battery's inside the PSP with all the wire ring of the Speaker and 42 LED's.

If i where u i would put the fan instead of the speaker since the speaker will only drain ur battery faster and that speaker can be made external, your PSP without a fan will climb to like 60-70° with all the battery's and LED's.

lool 60-70 srry but that is some serious bull:censored:, the leds do not produce almost ANY heat at all! and the batteries neither, and speaker doesnt drain the battery life too much, well definitely less than a FAN!!!!

I don't even know if PSP charger can charge that many battery's at the same time.
And if it would explode or not there is no way of knowing that.

As for the LEDS can't help U on that.
But there are tutorials on how to install them.

However I would not recommend U use that many leds.

As for the fan I would use 3 of the battery's for it.
And the other 4 for the PSP.

If your fan is a 12Volt then I would wire 3 battery's like so:
Use a switch with + and - leading to the fan.

Then wire up the 3 battery's like so:
+ - + - + -

Then connect the 1st battery's (+) to the switch for the fan and the 3rd battery's (-).
Then if U do this correctly, your fan will work with a switch of a button.

And to charge it I would use an extra PSP plug and wire it up to the switch.
(U would need to charge the 4 battery's for the PSP separate from the 3 for the fan.)

Thats how I would do it..

I answered the battery question (If you are going to use all the batteries to power both the PSP and the fan), after wiring them in parallel, you hook them up to the battery port, since the batteries don't have the PCB as the PSP battery does you won't be able power this set up without a PSP battery in it's case, of course you could get around this by wiring this board into it as well like the 3x AAA mod...  This will allow the batteries to charge...  One note, depending on where you plan on cramming these extra batteries you could make then removable via a clip or contact pad.

If you are going to do as electro said, then yes one set of 3 would have to be wired in series and charged separately from the rest.

Hmm I honestly don't see this as impossible. The batteries, although said that it can be possible, I can't seem to see it going into the psp too well, with a fan and that big speaker. You're better off making a giant external battery with a long cord that can be carried with your backpack. The fan is possible and has been done, as well as a speaker. You ought to buy a very flat speaker and of course the small fan you can find, sand the fan down, and try to fit them both in the UMD drive. Or if it's possible. Remove the battery from the psp, try to wire it so that it can be running through USB from an external battery, with the speaker set in the battery door. The LEDs are possible, but that many is going to be a challenge, not just for placement, but for the placement skills. I have enough trouble trying to wire those SMDs to wires, but with 42, I'd go crazy lol. Anyway mate, I seriously hope you pull this off :D.
