Anyone want to help me trouble shoot a problem?
« on: April 27, 2008, 02:51:03 PM »
Ok...Here is the deal:
I bought a psp off of my friend (sort of cousin)..i think...anyways, He sold it to me broken. It would not turn on at all... and I figured i'd buy it and try and fix it.

The weird thing is, he had another psp that had the same problem and he sent it to sony and they sent him a new one and didn't tell him what was wrong with it. He dropped both of them alot.

Here is what happens:
Turn on psp- green light comes on (no sign of any backlight at all, no boot sounds, or umd sounds)
Turn off psp- green light turns off
Charge psp- orange light comes on
I used pandora and mms as well....

I figured it might be the same problem as this guy had, but I don't know exactly what he did to his:

https://www.acidmods.com/forum/index.php?topic=15034.0

Thanks...

EDIT!! ..... I used pandora and mms and the memory card led came on as well as the wifi led. No backlight or anything else. But when I take the mms out and just the battery, it just shows the power led.

That is not a lot of info. It could be a hundred of things. By the way what happens when you try to use pandora? does the screen go on with the pandora battery and the memory stick?Have you use pandora or despertar del cementerio?
First Be then PSP !!

the backlight fuse might be out and the wifi/sound board might be messed up and the umd drive too, my friend had the same problem and we fixed it.

you use a charger and avviate the psp!

if it does not work you a buy the cable transparent that it connects the motherboard from pcb!

it can be also a fuse that not ago to pass current!!

Yeah I put in a pandora and the mms but nothing happened..no backlight or anything...could anything be wrong with my battery?

Well i asked you that because i have had the same problem many many times when modding my psp probably due to placing too many temperature near the memory so i got a brick but i could fix it with pandora. And pandora always made turn on the screen. Well, don't give up, you know that the memory is probably right, you don't have a battery charging cable problem and that fuse wasn't the problem either. There are more fuses in the psp, i think there is a thread with them. By the way, have test that both ends of the fuse you bridged are in short circuit?Just to be sure that what you are doing is well done.

I don't know what i am doing wrong, but every time I tried to bridge that fuse, the solder would always stick to the iron...don't I need some flux for that? (it was a woodburner, but I am using it as a soldering iron..is that ok?

I think I might have screwed up that fuse, but idk yet. Now I have to check the other fuses.

Here are all of the fuses: ( I think)

Do you have another working psp that you can use to test whether or not a part is working? If you do, you should try it. I'd say that is about the only way you will ever be able to figure out whats wrong.

Even if you don't find the problem, by testing which parts work, you can sell it scrapped.
Shut up, I know I am a pessimist.
