Dpad refuses to work after disassemble
« on: May 28, 2008, 08:10:10 PM »
Okay, so, I know I didn't break the thing because it works.
What I can't get is for it to work with the faceplate on, and the dpad arrows in.

What I did during dissassembly was just taking it completely apart excluding the removal of the mobo, umd drive, or memstick reader or wifi or power.  I went back through and replugged everything back into it's correct place, and everything works fine.

Except the dpad.
I doubt this is a serious technical fault, and probably just sheer stupidity, but here goes:
There are certain combo's with which the dpad has decided to work:
Rubber pad down, faceplate down, push on rubber pad with a DS stylus
Rubber pad down, dpad arrows down, faceplate off.

These are the combinations that the dpad has decided to either half work, or not at all.
Rubber pad down, dpad arrows down, faceplate down.  Will either result in up/down functionality only, or everything but right.
Everything else

Is there some horribly stupid thing I'm doing here?
It seems to me that the buttons aren't quite reaching down far enough.

Please save me from my own stupidity, I'd like to really mod this baby.

It's a PSP fat, if that matters.

I've got a video if anybody needs to actually see whats happening in order to help me, youtube keeps spitting it back at me for some reason.

Haha, oh, man.
Thanks, this did the trick.
Better for first mistakes to be small and stupid than large and catastrophic, I suppose.
