Dual nub + PSX
« on: May 21, 2008, 05:20:19 PM »
im kinda curious on how this razor x actually works? im thinking of getting one to use with ps1 games but ive read in a couple places that it replaces the 4 buttons (circle, triangle, etc)...if it does this then obviously theres gonna be some problems. is there a way to actually make a whole new analog stick without replacing any of the other functions, or is that a thing of the future?

you cannot add more buttons to the psp. the psp would not recognize it as a button and thus you won't be able to use it as a second analog stick.

the razor does not replace the four face buttons. You do not loose the functionality of the four face buttons

when you press down the analog stick it's the same thing as pressing the x button, when you press left on the analog stick it the same thing as pressing the circle, etc.

the second analog ACTS as though it's the face buttons because it was DESIGNED that way so when people play first person shooters (FPS) they would have an analog like method instead of the alternative of pressing the face buttons to aim the gun. it doesn't act as a whole new analog stick with it's own properties. it just lets you have an analog like control of the face buttons which Still will act normally after the razor x is installed.

right, so what im saying is since it acts like those buttons wouldnt it just replicated what they do? and thus useless on ps1 games?

ok so that answers my question, here is another XD. is it possible to wire the second nub to the d pad instead of the face buttons?

EDIT: nevermind found a thread with the info

If you want good PSX functionality, then you might want to check out the L2 & R2 mod https://www.acidmods.com/forum/index.php?topic=15108.0

ya im gonna do both, since some games need r2 and l2 while not needing the right analog stick, and vice versa, i figure i cna map the d pad to different things depending on the game. soldering to the dpad however looks a little iffy

I don't think you have the knowledge to make a ps1 controller just yet try to start off with something smaller like leds.
