1st gen nano halp
« on: June 09, 2008, 03:47:35 PM »
Ok, so I had this first gen nano. I plug it into my laptop [it's only the mobo with the screen connected] and it shows the "harddrives dead" picture. The iPod with the sad face and Xs. Then it started charging and it was working. I soldered a battery back onto it and I put the clickwheel back on, but now it starts up and shows the apple logo, the backlight comes on, then it shuts off and repeats that. The logo -> backlight -> shutoff. And it does that endlessly.

What can I do to fix it?

hmm i remember having this problem and a few others with t3h t4x mans ipod

check all your battery connections (should be 3) and make sure that

a) All your bass is belong to us
b) The battery is holding charge (get your meter and test how many volts DC is in it atm)
c) that the battery is connecting with BOTH sides of the motherboard. May sound crazy due to the wonderful invention of multilayer pcb, but it can be a problem
