2 things

1) I am a die-hard MGS fan, and watching that would completely ruin the experience.
2) It was crappy quality and was designed to be viewed before playing the game, not randomly.

yeah, same here!
though its like a major plus, the graphics


and it didn't ruin anything, it was only the opening part
the whole experience is 10X better

this game is so awesome...

no, he said he completely skipped it because of GTA4

I was given 2 keys to the beta (one through the GAP, one through my Beta program with Sony)
didn't even bother downloading it because of GTAIV

its not just the story

its the priceless combination of gameplay, graphics (which are both in the online which one could whet their pallets with in the beta)  AND story
i crapped myself when playing it because it helped give a taste of what the singleplayer is going to be like
dont get me wrong, i'm looking forward to SP far more than online; but me and the few other hardcore fans i am associated with were excited enough, nay, privelaged to even play the incomplete beta despite GTA4

the next day that we played it, we confirmed our confirmation of hardcore fandom and nerdiness by talking about it without end. however our logic in terms of balancing this and GTA4 was that they OWN gta4 and it wasnt going to end anytime soon (as we got the beta rather late) so might as well get our fill of MGO beta and when its closed play GTA4...the only problem being was having gta4, as i wanted to borrow it and still havent been allowed to :/



plus playing as snake was totally badarse

The word in red is the keyword, incomplete.  It's just going to make that initial ZOMG MGS4 that much less since you've played it already.  Also, based on the logic you should have played GTA4 more because you will own the full MGO when you get MGS4...

also no, as it was the beta and i was excited at the time
i had the beta for only a week, and wanted to get the good fill of pre-release mgs4 action for that time
i could simply borrow my freinds copy of GTA4 for the next 2 months and be done with it before MGS4 came out

the beta would run out...but i had an available copy of gta (to borrow)
why not play, at least try, the thing that has a time limit, then focus all the other time (i.e. 2 months) on playing the game that does not run out before the time limit thing runs out of time

i have little intention of playing MGO often when i get the full game,
i'm really getting it for the singleplayer, but wanted to try the beta when i could to get used to the engine, see the graphics, and feel the gameplay, perhaps easing the transition of snake eater controls to guns of the patriots controls as well (i still play snake eater... a LOT)
