Soldering iron? possible?
« on: May 14, 2008, 11:52:58 AM »
I just got this old wood burning kit for free at this fair, the person selling left, so it's automatically free.

it says it's 117v, 20w, and 50/60Hz

could it be used as a soldering iron?

and what kind of metal do you use to solder?

yeah you could use that for soldering, shouldn't be too bad. I use a 15 watt soldering iron though with rosin core solder.

i don't know if it makes a difference, but this looks exactly like the one i got, i only have 1 tip, it's either the one that it on it, or the first one next to it that has a darker tip.

the person on another forum said that too.
no i was at this book fair, and there is more than just books, and i am a volunteer helper, so i stay till the end. and if it's like almost over, if there is something there, and the person who was selling it left, it's free. so yeah i got that, and T-shirt making paper.

but i just realized i can't make t shirts yet cause the color is out on out printer  :sadno:

Yeah right...Lol I want to go to that fair too!!! I also want free stuff. =)
Any soldering iron lower than 30 watts is good for any wii modding. Higher you might burn or mess up something. =(
