Is there a difference between npn transistors and npn switching transistors?

I found on radio shack .com two different tranistors that were very simular . one said npn      the other said npn switching

when i went to radioshack they only had the npn ....Theres no difference right? This will still work with my rapid fire controller?

i doubt it but i havent used any of those so it may effect it...
