Just put in the cable and tape it down so it won't come loose and you should be fine.

so bleh lol, i broke my clip off and i just put my cable in and it stays, i have the phat tho. and you just need to find a good tut to take the psp fully apart, i found a good pic tut on youtube and it helped me alot, but if ur not confident just wait until ur ready, but the full case mod is pretty easy, just watch those screws, they get lost easy lol

Phat or slim, not sure if there is a difference. I'm a slim modder.

The cable is a ZIF cable (Zero Insertation Force) and only has connections on one side..

(TOP DOWN VIEW INSERTED IN CONNECTOR) If they follow normal guidlines positive should be on the right with a ground immediately next to it and NEGATIVE should be on the left most likely with a ground next to it.

That is best guess though.... Though Sony likes to F things up just for the fun of it...

###############NOTE#################
Don't use electrical tape it conducts electricity!!!!
Use kevlar tape, you'll have to order it online.. just google it...
