D-pad ribbon cable not working...
« on: July 14, 2008, 06:50:02 PM »
Hey. I'm having a problem with my d-pad ribbon cable not working. This is the side with the arrows and for some reason when I plug in the ribbon cable everything works except for the L trigger and occasionally it'll be the down arrow not the L button. I tried to push the cable in again to get it to work but everything seems in place. I used to have this problem but I could just push in the ribbon harder and it would work. Please help!  :beg: It's really annoying me. Also while I'm on the topic of help. I did the hardmodded USB charge mod. But now my usb port won't function normally...It charges, just wont work like a usb port. :help:

check to see if you connected the other pin next to it by putting solder on the other pin near

Ya it sounds like you have the solder touching other legs easy to do a first try. Just clean it up and make sure its only touching the correct pin.

For the other stuff idk because im not to good with slims  Good luck

Thanks guys I got it working again  :victory: I guess using a big iron on something small like this isn't the best idea but oh well. I'm still having this problem with my L trigger not working though...  :faint:

you could buy a new d-pad Fpcb from DX. that may solve the problem, but it does sound like there is some sort of problem with the port itself.

I don't really want to buy anything new for my psp. Is there any way I could fix it?

If it's the port then no, you'd have to get a new mobo, but if it's the cable, you maybe able to fix it but it would be very hard. you would be better buying a new cable, there very cheap, like a few dollers.
Fixing Fpcb's are not fun plus you run the risk if damaging it more.

ok, check the connection for the d-pad for solder or anything that could get in the way of the cable (the pins might be out of place, not sure hoe that could happen but it may be worth looking). also check the fpcb for any burns, breaks or other damage. if none of this is apparent then i'm afraid i'm out of ideas.

not sure if that would be the problem. the only way your going to know for sure is getting a replacement and trying it out.

do this:

cut the fadded parts away
strip away some of the plastic, solder(where red, with wire, lol) to black stuff  :w00t:
its not hard, you could try it
However today I was brutally raped by a door handle, and none of my friends helped me up off the floor after ten minutes, instead they all teabaged me, all 10 of them...

Makes sence, but with the ribbon being the size that it is and being wedged where it is, i suggest u take pics of your ribbon and the port and post them, possibly what you dont see someone else might, the answer might be easyer than cutting, soldering, or replacing..... never know bro!
