what is this?

I was desoldering a old directtv dvr today to get some tact switches off and I found this

the thing is I don't know what it is, so can somebody clear things up for me?  :help:

I THINK it looks like a pot but it's too blurry for me to see...Maybe some kind of transistor...I can't tell.

it was between four tact switches, I don't know if it's a weird led because it was under a transparent button like thing

If the circular part can be rotated using a screwdriver, then it is a potentiometer. If the circular part doesnt rotate, then it could just be glued in place, or a transitor. Either way, it COULD be used in a psp so this is a valid thread.

For future questions about what parts are called, try looking at pictures of what you think it might be on Wikipedia.

that's the problem I don't even have a single clue on what it is
EDIT: gr8pwnfl pmed me and it turns out it was an ir receiver for the remote
guess this really does have no place in the psp section...

Its used for the remote for the TV tuners that come for PC's
thats all it is
Somthing like an IR.

What on earth are you talking about Blazinkaos? He said it was an IR receiver. It's not a button...and I never once saw it in that vid. There's NO IR receiver in the mod...
