Weird Screen
« on: September 06, 2008, 04:23:43 PM »

I got this screen off DX a while ago and when I got it, the screen was just all white. For ~8 months, its been just sitting and collecting dust. I just bought a broken PSP and decided to try the screen again and the screen isn't as white anymore. I could see a little blue now and read the words. Is there a way to fix this screen?
Sometimes when I turn it on, the colors look inverted.

looks like you got ripped off. Y didnt you return it when you first found out it was bad? Well I don't know how to fix it but I'd say to disassemble the screen and see if you can see anything wrong with it.

I sent in request to get a RMA but they never responded... I already tried taking apart the LCD.

try taking off the backlight and then put a flash light up to it so you can see if it might just be a faulty backlight

That is what controls the color of the screen? So i have to desolder it and solder it to my screen?

I'll try to swap it tomorrow, I don't feel like desoldering and soldering right now.

Can't you just replace that hole ribbon thing rather than having to desolder and solder?

the entire ribion connects to the glass with about 1000 solder points thiner than any thuman could solder all of them back on

what exactly does that ic do? Also isn't it a little hard to solder to a thin piece of plastic that wants to curl up and melt?

not if you're soldering onto the metal contacts... just dont be clumsy and touch the plastic.

hmm that dose not nessicairly mean they are missing lots of PCB have missing components it seems but it is just revise versions of the same thing and sometimes multiple resistors are used in older ones or originals and later they are consolidated to one but they tend to use the same PCB or FPC or whatever it is in this case. You should still try and swap the IC If it worked for blizzard should work for you too.

and if it still doesn't work you can also add the resistors

If you look at the second picture that psp339 posted, you can see the labels and numbers next to each component, C = capacitor, R = resistor, D = diode.

smart tweezers or a multimeter that can read caps most can read resistors but ya they are normally marked C** for caps R** for resistors I didn't notice the markings just made an assumption.
