Ds Headphone jack relocation
« on: September 11, 2008, 01:41:30 PM »
hi just inherited a ds with a broken hinge obviously im going to replace the case but once thats done i would like to relocate the headphone jack.
Why i hear you cry... well im a big fan of massive headphones and sadly massive headphones come with massive plugs which stick out too far and get in the way when im trying to rip it up on ouendan so what im asking here is

1) has anyone ever relocated the headphone jack?
2) does anyone have any experience moving jacks on any other systems that might help?
and finally
3) if you answered no to the above do you have any idea how i would do it?

i was thinking de solder the jack from the motherboard then re-solder each point but with a couple of inches of kynar wire in between the board and the jack worse case scenario i have the jack outside the ds (which i wouldn't mind) would this work?

thanks in advance guys!

Spot on my friend. De-solder it, move it, wire it back up to corresponding points.

do you think i could put an additional headphone jack in using the same technique? so i keep the stock one in place but have another jack  located elsewere?

all i could come up with as a negative to this was my output could be halved?
but it would save me having a bloody great gaping hole at the bottom of my ds!
