This is really crappy

I have a Seagate 160gb hdd in my desktop. Here is the pic.

The problem is, Local Disk (C) is only showing 4.36gb. What should i do?

ok dude, the thing is that only 4gb is assigned as partitioned space, the rest of the space is unpartitioned raw space.. to fix it you either need to go to control panel>administrative tools> computer management> storage then you need to assign that space as a partition

OR

boot up using a windows vista or xp disk then follow the steps and you will come to a place where it gives you the information about the hard disk and it will show like Partition C: 4gb Unpartitioned space:156gb . then select the option to create a new partition then make another partition out of that space. if you have windows vists disk you can increase the size of ur current partition "C:" without having to create another one or losing ur data on "C:"

dang.. that happened when i was formatting before. I used to dual boot linux and xp lol
i went to computer management and there are four partitions
system
unknown
unknown
unknown

1st unknown is 141.81gb. i don't see how i can assign it?

FORMAT IT.

Geez. Format the stupid harddrive. Leave everything alone when formatting and you'll have 1 big 158gbish partition (Before OS. Some space is still used up.)

i was going to do that anyways, but i would rather ask somebody if there would be a better way.

the unknown ones are the ones being used by linux... since linux partitions cant be read by windows  they r not visible/are unknown
