Should I run some mroe LED's from speakers ???
« on: September 09, 2008, 07:15:38 AM »
Hello,

I have been working on a PSP and I have removed the UMD drive and modded some speakers into the back with sound reactive LED's now I wan't to put more sound reactive LED's into the triggers, is it wise just to solder more contacts onto the big speakers or should I solder it all up another way.

You can see the mod here:

Tell me what you guys think

Thank you

Max

use a sound chip and put some more in, get the triggers with leds and put a Umd door in, mount those speakers in the umd door. Mabe make it into something like what folklord did, below

Hey,

Sorry that I haven't replied, life has its ways of enslaving you. Anyway thanks for the info. Still thinking if I should do it or not. But I've made improvements. I rewired it all and used heat shrink instead of electrical tape lol and I've drilled out two holes in the UMD door for the speakers and another two under them for the lights and over the two holes for the lights I put a slide of glass over it. But unfortunately when I was testing it I accidentally shorted one speakers and blew it but the light still flashes, so I suppose that's OK. Just not as loud lol. I'll have it up for you guys soon to have a look at.

Thank again for your info

Max

Are those the 8 ohm mini speakers from Radioshack? I bought one but I thought it was too deep to fit in with the UMD door on hrmmm

Hey,

I think they are. I'm not sure. Well these are the specs of it:

27mm Mini Speaker
A great budget-priced small speaker with voice coil impedance of 8 ohms, free air resonance of 500Hz and maximum power output of 0.25W. Dimensions: 27mm x 8mm.
# Dimensions: 27mm x 8mm
# Voice coil impedance: 8 Ohms
# Free air resonance: 500Hz
# Maximum power input: 0.25W
Great for projects where space is precious. With 8 ohms impedance and maximum power output of 0.25W. 8mm deep.

I just copied it from the site.

Heres the link to it if you want..:
