How long does it take you guys to download a 6-8gb file through a torrent?  It's taking forever with me and I can't figure out why.

i get about 100-300 kp/ps on utorrent. Are you downloading wirelessly or wired?

It's taking forever because you're downloading it from OTHER PEOPLE. They upload it (seed) when they're done downloading and leave it open. The more seeders the faster it is (depending on your internet speed at this point).

At least that's how I think it is...

This sucks though I had it open for like 3 days now and it's only at 16%!

wirelessly on a macbook with the maximum signal strength 
using transmission
getting about 30kbs
from about 60 peers

last time i did something that big it took about 7-8 hours
3 to download to a torent server then 4 to download to my pc via http

well whenever you select your torrent i would recommend you set it to from the most seeders to the least and then choose the torrent with the most seeders.

Lol, depending on The Torrent.

But im downloading 5Gb and has taken over 2 months, but in that time, i've downloaded popular movies of 700Mb in 2 hours or so, about 50 movies, and lotsa other stuff.

yeah, I usually connect to a couple hundred people, I d/l all seasons of ATHF (7.5 gigs) in about 9 minutes, and its usually faster than that
