My new battery doesn't work on my psp :-(
« on: October 01, 2008, 12:03:55 PM »
Okay, I hard modded my old battery to get custom firmware on it so I finally bought a battery from deal extreme, and I am extremely excited because I haven't had a battery over a month, the first thing I noticed is that it charged extremely quickly just like my old pandored battery then I noticed the life span of it was just like my pandored battery. What's up with that? It's a new battery? I had time machine on my psp but I formatted the memory stick so it should of cleared it out, does this have to do with time machine? Or is my psp just screwed? Thanks in advanced!

I just got one for DX about a week ago. When I first got it, it would go from 100% to 60% in the matter of seconds. 14 hrs in the freezer inside a freezer bag and it now lasts 5+ hrs :) The battery info is actually pretty accurate now also :)

Has anyone also tried freezing your DX battery to make it work better? Or is this this just a joke.

Lol I know it sounds like a joke, But this has been used for years to revive old Laptop battery's, even to revive old Hard drives. Even on cordless drill if you want to revive and DO AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! I have always had luck hitting it with reverse polarity for just a split second from another 12V source then slapping it in the charger. This has to do with wiping the memory of the battery. If I am wrong about or someone has more in site on why this actually works I would love to read it :)

Please these are all do at your own risk and I take NO responsibility if you were to blow something up Please be safe!

Till it is room temp to the touch is what I usually do.
Before you put it in the freezer kill the battery fully. then charge fully when you take it out. It may take a time or two to fully charge and discharge to jolt the battery's memory. You can always smack it with a jolt of 3.3v reverse polarity if that does not work also. I mean what do you have to loose the battery was only 5 bucks right. Well 5 bucks and 3 months to ship lol

if you didn't know there are fake batteries that look very similar to real ones. ex: the gold lettered battery looks similar to the real one, only difference is slight coloring and letter writing. for the black ones, the writing that says psp on the bottom is different if you look closely. all of them  says 100% an u get 10 mins. just go to the store.

Mine from DX just crapped out on me again. I froze it and this time did not work. So I took a 9v with a 9v lead and stuck the - in the + of the psp and vice versa

it sounds like he is powering up the battery, not the psp. i don't think anyone would do that without a good reason.

no no no no lol, Im not that crazy. I put a 9v to the DX battery. I do it at reverse polarity to what the call "jump" the battery. It is supposed to clear the battery's memory and if you are quick enough you can slap it in the psp and charge it to a full charge. I have done it with MANY cordless drill battery's and laptop battery's.
