PsP Speaker Help

Hey im new to modding and I was wondering if you could connect a speaker to the headphone jack and put it in the umd area, that produces decent sound quality. I am asking this because my mobo is messed up and sound doesnt come through my speakers only my headphone jack.

You probably could, but you'd need a pinout of the headphone jack. Also, why don't your speakers work? Do you remember what you were doing before they died?

Try bridging your sound fuse its loctaed at the back of the mobo dont remember where but there's a photo of it somewhere just use the search button im sure youll find it

Wrong again. There is no sound fuse in a psp Phat.

no i just got it that way. also how would i get that pinout?

You might want to try the search button. I remember seeing a pinout a while back, but I don't know if it's still around.

For crying out loud, you give a lot of false information... That's the 2nd time today I've seen you give wrong information. Also I've seen you do it a few other times too.

i remember seeing someone yesterday with a connection to his headphone jack but i cant find it now and i lost the link

yes u can connect to headphone jack take any old headphone cutt off the end get the wires plzy a sound and touch them if they work just soulda the wires good luck

I have been letting others answer more of the run of the mill questions and I have been taking
the hard ones. Here is the interface you wanted pinouts for.





The headphone jack is a shorting jack. I had always thought it was a normal shorting jack
that turns the internal sound off when your headphones are plugged in. It is NOT !

When a headphone is plugged in it sends a signal to the CPU that tells it to turn
off the internal speakers. The internal speakers are turned off in software.

What all this means is that you can plug or wire into this jack and not have any
effect on the internal speakers working or not. The jack is very easy to solder
to on the back side of the PCB if you want. It will require you to do a complete
tear down of your PSP. Plugging into the jack really would look stupid and would
be very prone to break.

I hope this helps you. If you search my posts you will see a small tutorial on how
to build a simple signal tracer. You might want to try building it and track down
why your internal speakers don't work. Remember if you use the headphone port
you are also going to have to build an amplifier to drive your new speakers also.

Also if you want to just repair it you can contact Forklord as he is very good at
repairing PSPs.
