if you read the rules topic about the december mod off you will see that the modchip clause has been redacted and a request to ryan0 to redact the 100 post count clause has also been made

Not on acidmods they aren't...

modchips have been allowed in the competition but they must not be described in ways that promote piracy e.g:
I installed an xecuter 3 modchip - perfectly fine
I installed a modchip so I can play backups - not allowed
Also in the video diary the console must not be shown booting a backup.
Also by order of the admins the post count has been reduced to 1 single introductory post.

If you disagree with these rule amendments I am very sorry as it was not me who made the decision but the admins.
Please guys don't argue in this thread and make me have to lock it

,I really want this to be succesful and the arguing is jeopardizing it.

Discussion of Mod Chips on AcidMods has been allowed as it it not the act of installing the mod chip the is ilegal but the software involved in using it. ModChips can be any hardware chip that allows hardware enhancements example (Acidmods Rapid Fire is a mod chip) but with the right software our own rapidfire chip has the potential to become an instument to promote piracy so with all that being said we can discuss hardware chips but speaking of ways to circumvent copywritten content or intelectual property in wich thease companies will loose assets will get you banned....

Alright, from my understanding of the rules, modchips are allowed. However they will not be used in the judging or the description of the modifications.

Alien: I thought you said people shouldn't be able to use other peoples chips? I don't think anyone here has coded a mod chip for the purpose of playing backups

got you there didn't I?

but seriously I think everyone can agree that if you are part of the competition you can probly install a mod chip.

People need to focus on being creative for this thing, and a modchip is nice feature but not all that creative.

think about it. acid mods shop sell a mod chip. the sound board is a mod chip b/c it makes your psp flash.

OK guys I would highly recommend that you begin buying your parts now/brainstorming/designing,because December is fast approaching.

At the moment this contest is for fun,we have not organised a prize,the prize is a place in Acidmods/modding history and prestige,this competition is to show true modding talent and true modding talent doesn't need a prize to do some phenomenal modding.
Breaching the rules means a disqualification from the competition,please check out the rules thread or consult me or any of the other organisers if you need to talk about something.

Lol thanks,but it's true,we don't need a prize to do great modding,we (or at least most of us) don't mod for anything other than the fun of modding and the enjoyment you get when you're finished and you look at what you modded and say "I did that".Therefore we shouldn't need any motivation other than that the competition will be fun and will get you prestige on the forums.
