175 watt or 203 watt powerbrick--Whats the difference?
« on: October 27, 2008, 08:40:41 PM »
Is there any difference between this two different type of powerbricks besides the watts? Will they cause the RROD to appeared if the wrong watt powerbrick is used? You see, I got me a used xbox 360 with the RROD problem. No accessories included, just the console. In addition, I purchased a used set of the AV cable and the powerbrick w/ cord in good conditions. The powerbrick is showing the 203 watt info. I heard that not all powerbricks works with all xbox 360's. Can this be true? Can this be the problem to the RROD?

the connector that goes into the 360 is different on both PSUs, if you have a newer 360 with 65nm chip it uses a 203, the older ones use a 175

hope this helps!

203 Watt supplies work on all xbox360s. 175W only works on newer boxes that originally came with them.

No, the powersupply does not cause RROD in any way shape or form.
