Look what I made =D
« on: October 30, 2008, 06:46:30 PM »
Xbox type S controller to usb/pc. This controller had that microsoft breakaway cable that comes apart if you pull too hard, so I modded that part only.
Tomorrow I'm putting the ports in my xbox, too. Player 1 controller is going to have 2 usb ports in it, (the usb ports from a wii, those double ones) the top port being controller slot 1 and the bottom being controller slot 4. Slot 4 is intended as a usb port for flash drives as memory cards.

(P.S. can someone tell me what the big slots/ports are for on the controller? Still new to original xbox..)

It's not just splinter cell, and I read it was 1 not 2...
And, are they really? According to this the memory cards plug into the xbox which is why you can hardmod a usb port to it for a memory card.

What else are those ports for on the controller?

I believe the old xbox live headsets connected through there as well.

You DO need a driver...
Download XBCD, it has the drivers and a program.
If you want to control your computer using the controller, get ControlMK and map keys to controller buttons/axis'.

Also, another update.
I moved my router and modem downstairs, so now my xbox is hooked up to my network =D FTP access + XBMC streaming + Linux /etc = awesome.
EMULATORS FTMFW.

I'll post more pics of my usb ports and stuff later if I feel like it.

the xbox controller is a usb host in itself, devices that you attach to the xbox controller (memory cards, headsets etc.) are usb devices in themselves. You can wire in usb ports into the controller contrary to some of what the other people are saying.Once you have done this it will recognize any xbox compatible usb device like flash drives. However you can't plug a usb hub into these ports as the controllers software will not recognize it nor allow it.
Kicks if you need advice on original xbox me or kraker are the guys to talk to,don't listen to the peeps above unless you know that they know what they're talking about,of course bar those above who actually do know what they're on about or didn't give false info.
Good work so far btw  and good luck with the mod, post loads of pics when done :D
