Help! I need help fitting the wires in my psp?
« on: November 06, 2008, 10:22:17 AM »
After modding my psp I cant seem to get the wires to fit inside quite right. When I put it back together the housing won't go together all the way. Does anyone have tutorials or pictures that can show me where to put them that will be out of the way. It would be really great if someone with a modded psp can take it apart and send me pictures of where the placed they wires.

Your wire is HUGE!
Use 30awg kynar/magnet wire and you won't have a problem...
your wire is way too big.

It really isn't that big it just looks that way in the pic. It is actually a little bit smaller than the 30g wire that I have. If anyone has pictures of their psp with the wires in it I would really like to see it.

use magnet wire... even smaller and i believe to strip it all u need is to heat it up with a soldering iron.

Nice routing ;)
But route it underneath the motherboard.

what is the difference in "magnet" wire and regular and where do you buy it

do you have to route it under the motherboard cause I would prefer not to if its not necessary

ok, on the right side, wire the 2 wires under the power board connector and the dc slot connector, that should do it for the right

for the left, you gotta put it under the mobo
but if not, try to wire the wires under the dpad
like showen in pic

I will drew on the pic you made and uploaded it, but i cant promise you it will work since i havent touch the insides of a phat in more than 4 months

magnet wire is thinner, and has an enamel insulation which you can melt off with a soldering iron. I don't think it's possible with a 15W soldering iron though, as I don't think it gets hot enough. It is also more susceptable to shorts. Kynar wire is thicker, actually has insulation, and is harder to short out.

magnet wire is available in a lot of places. You can get it from armatures of electric motors. The armature is the part in the center that spins.

i dont recomend magnet wire
If it scratchs and the wire conected 2 postives when he didnt want it to, His psp could be a gonner

many wire strippers are the right size, also I have heard you can melt it with a soldering iron but I don't trust that :dntknw:

K cool thanks. I suppose when I'm down in Toronto this weekend, I'll see if I can pick up a pair for like 5 bucks. (I live in a town of like, 4200 people... Nothing decent around unless you drive like 200km. Nearest Source is like 50km away.)

Just so you guys know..

A 15W iron is just as hot as a 150 Watt iron..
But It doesn't have the power to replace lost heat as quickly as an iron with a heating core rated at a higher wattage.

And secondly, magnet wire sucks, from radioshack get the wire wrapping tool, that will strip it fine.

I just use wire cutters...bought wire strippers from the source and turned out to be too big to strip the 30AWG kynar...just use wire cutters and strip it, works great. Also the source is radioshack had to be renamed after a lawsuit or some crap like that.

What i'm kinda impressed about is how he managed to squeeze those big wires in with the speakers lolol
