320gb MyBook HDD Problems

I have had this external HDD for about two months now and when I came home today it won't power on anymore. I tried to unplug it and plug it back in and all it did was start to boot and then go back off. Does anyone know what the problem could be and how I could start it back because I have everything on it and I don't want to lose it.

does the external harddrive run on AC power or USB power?
