Ps led button mod
« on: October 28, 2008, 10:12:43 AM »
hey guys i'm trying to add an led to the ps button on my ps3 controller but i have the second version mobo. i've searched the net and only found information on the 1st and 3rd (rumble) controllers. has anyone here modded the second type of ps3 controller? if so where are the = and - points? i've already replaced the red indicator led to blue but this has stoppped me in my tracks.

I will help you :)

Take the Power straight from the battery connector, and the ground from anypart of the board that isn't a trace, just scratch off the insulation there, or look for a test point connected to the same big plane.

got it working, looks great! Had to used a 100k ohm resistor so the led didn't blow, but the light won't turn off when the controller does. I need a + point on the board that powers up when you press the ps button. that way it should shut off when the controller does. like the mod we all make for the psp, DS, ect.

i'll have a look at the board again, see if i can find a resistor i can solder too for power. if i mess it up....well, it's payday friday so i'll get a rumble controller, but i'd rather not. got a few bills to pay. :(

-Edit-

:censored:, i got my multimeter to work! Thats just saved me a hell of a lot of time getting this set up.

Is the 2nd version the one with the tilt board mounted to the mobo? If so you can get power and ground from it on the underside where it mounts to the mobo without using any resistors if your using smd's
If you don't mod it how can you call it your's
