Need a little DS Lite Help.

Hey guys.

Can anyone tell me if this is normal:

I got a broken DS Lite it worked just fine the top screen was broken so I bought a new 1.
I didn't get it yet.

I threw away the old top screen but now when I put the bottom part of the DS together it will just turn on for a split second flash the screen and turn off.

I'm thinking it's because there is no top screen hooked up.
Is this the case?

I don't think there was any way I could have broken it.
Appreciate any and all replies. :)

you have to have both screens hooked up for it to work, there is a way to run the ds without it though.  Just read this
