just an idea...
« on: November 28, 2008, 07:11:46 PM »
hello, I was wondering, if you can simply flash the psp to a different firmware, why cant someone dump the 1.50+3.xx hw moduals firmware and then we just flash it to the psp's flash0.
this way, pandora is never needed, just to already have cfw.  :winker:

In order to do that you have to find a glitch or a security loophole to access the nand of the PSP. when firmware 2.6 came out people were able to downgrade there psp phat using the tiff expliot". The user would load an image on the psp and the psp would load an eboot loader. from there you would downgrade to firmware 1.5. When newer firmware versions came out the security holes were fixed. Now pandora is the only way, that i know of. I hope this answers your question

no, what i am saying you would already have m33. So you just hook up the nand/flash0 via usb, put 1.50+3.40 hw modules firmware in there and your good to go. :w00t:

i believe the flash0 is encrypted and if you modify the contents of it your psp will be bricked. There is also a program that can do that http://www.consolespot.net/879-Hellcats-Recovery-Flasher-v120.html

In theory this should work. But I have already tested it out when my slim was working, it went straight to a brick.

vladstir:
It isn't encrypted, do you know how to install a custom theme? If you do then you would know that you replace some of the contents with modified versions of some of the files.

Ive never tryed to install a custom theme, but one time i copied another psps flash0 content and that bricked my psp, so i assumed the flash0 was encrypted

Yes. I know. I tried to use a modified pandora to install it. Nothing. Tried changing the Flash's manually (Via recovery mode). Brick. I know what you mean but this cannot be done. I know it seems like it should but it doesn't.
