Okay basically first you remove the silver ring by heating it up with a hairdryer or something, and then carefully lifting it up with an x-acto knife. Then, you cut a small square into the middle of your umd door with a dremel. It doesn't have to be big, just big enough so that you can use a dremel to sand it away till you have a nice circle. Sand it until you've mostly sanded out the middle. Finally, use some fine sandpaper, and then start sanding it. Every few rounds, try your jewel. You don't want a lose fit, but you don't want to use too much force. Of course, this should all be done with the UMD door out. There was a tut, but I can't find it anymore... Any questions you may have just ask or pm.

If you don't sand too much off, and you get a tight fit, no glue needed. If you sand too much and it's too loose, glue might be a good idea.

Don't do this, terrible way to do it, no offence.

If you have to use a dremel (Scroll saw would be better) then you have to use a cut off wheel, and cut a rough circle around where the silver ring was, try and get it as close to the edges as possible, then use the sanding wheel to finish it (bobbin sander would be even better).

Hahaha

I wouldn't bother with a hot air (in your situation), I don't think you have much of a need, I use it mainly for salvaging/replacing smt components and reflowing boards, not much use for modding
