Lexar Mem card problem

heys dudes, i gots a problem. my cousins 1 GB lexar memory card got :censored: up. the camera (Nikon D60) wont recognize the card, only says that it must be formatted. Also, when placed into the computer, its recognized, but it sqays that it must be formatted.. any one got any ideas whats wrong?

it needs to be formatted... more than likely when something was being saved an error occured and screwed up the card.

And if that doesn't work then its probably corrupt. I've had it happen to a few hard drives of mine

i dont want to format the mem stick. hes got like 300 pictures on it.

anyone else have an idea OTHER than formatting?

Well you learned your lesson. Do like most people do, load the pics onto your PC every week...

Im gonna guess that formatting is the only option.

Well you learned your lesson. Do like most people do, load the pics onto your PC every week...

not my pictures. my cousins. i never take pics unless instructed to or if im posting pics for somthing im selling. and also i backup all my stuff daily.

i guess he did. ill "aquire" the recover tools posted here, if it doesnt work, i will just point and laugh at him as such  :taunt:

I've had a similar issue, but I found that Linux occasionally will (for whatever reason) be able to make out whats on the card.

Burn a live CD of Ubuntu, and then see about getting the files from there.

If not, well, you have a backup CD to recover files if your OS Craps out.

you need to use a data recover tool - i did that when my hard drive got corrupted to the point of unmountable in normal circumstances and it kept saying format it so i ran the recovery tool and it got back 98% of my stuff. it did take 2 days though as it forensicly whent over it or whatever its called like 10 times recovering each bit it found each time
