Gaming adapter --> router ---> computers
« on: January 10, 2009, 11:01:00 AM »
Okay so my parents bought me a gaming adapter for my computer a while back and basically what it does is takes the wifi signal from a wireless router and turns it into ethernet. I had my computer hooked up to this for quite a while and then my brother moved his computer into his room which is just across the hall from my room. So i figured I would give him some wifi. I hooked up a unused router to my gaming adapter and then I ran a ethernet cable to his room as well as mine. And it worked!!! So now I can hook up all of my consoles that use ethernet to the internet at the same time!

I hope this helps someone who is in a similar situation.

Can't you do that with no gaming adapter? I can connect to my wireless network then plug the router into my computer's ethernet port. Then I can connect stuff to my router and it will work.

I see what you are saying but I have the router setup downstairs and the computers are upstairs. The router just splits the one port from the gaming adapter into a bunch of others.
