i think i have a virus.

yess. i just made a topic about my program there.

but now. it cant update either of them

and it wont let me connect to any security websites....i tryed mcafee.com and kaspersky.com

it wont let me connect to either. but it will let me connect to any other website.

some i think if have to reinstall mcafee cuz its the free one for me

before i post. yeah i know its a double post its just an epic update.

ok so i decided to disconect my laptop from the internet.

just to find one thing out

I DO HAVE A VIRUS

thats kicks for the idea on kaspersky.

svchost.exe - "use DNS function for hidden sending of data to the network address"

sites its trying to connect to:
4455pred33.com
fgorknazgaz.com

im guessing its a keylogger

and when i try ending the task it just gives me a shutdown in 1 min screen. silly little 5 y.o. trojan

also. C:windows/system32/drivers/svchost.exe.
not delete-able (and yes im computer admin)
created on 1/14/09 (date i got it)


now.....just how do i get rid of it.......other then xp re-install

See what you can do in safe mode, and/or get Avg.


Use avg from now on; for the past year I've had 2 viruses, one
On netbook other on mac, rid of both in 8 seconds

i used to have AVG and thought it sucked, but then again it was the free version.... do you have the pay version?

it didnt dectect it untill i disconnected it from he internet

and i did at noah said. booted in safe mode, deleted the file, and im checking with kaspersky now to see if its all good

DO _NOT_ DELETE SVCHOST.

It's a vital system process. Deleting that will need a reinstall.

Yea When I build Computers & install the operating system WinXP/WinVista & Finishing  with the drivers, SVCHOST was a Common in the Process Tree... If that is indeed Bad Microsoft Has a lot of questions they need to answer.

It's a vital system process, I myself have 13 instances of it running.
Each one, a separate entity. svchost does SO many different things.

yep, like silently sending info to 4455pred33.com

i really havent noticed any differences

i just looked at my processes a sec after i posted this, still have 6 svchost.exe running. the oone i deleted was just a virus file
