New way to do sound reactive LEDs
« on: January 28, 2009, 01:40:59 AM »
Hey guys its 4:30 Am and I just perfected the new way to do sound reactive LEDs useing a single 2n222 NPN transistor you can find at any radioshack. It is slightly dimmer than the LM386 but it reacts 100X better and the LEDs are only verry slightly on when there is no sound.

Heres a video of it in action

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOfRjklm0_E

I will release a TUT tomarrow hopefully this can get me my R&D position back? Let me know admins......

cool waiting on the tut :D

are those UV leds where did you get them?

getting old is mandatory growing up is optional.

Thats where I got these they are brighter but this makes them a lil dimmer.

Yes all that is needed is a 2n2222 NPN transistor and a single 100 ohm resistor its cheaper more, more efficent, more responsive and has less soldering required. I must note though that I havent figured how to make them turn off with WiFi switch ATM you must add another switch some where to cut power off and on.

Ya thanks man I love the case and trim it just looks so clean!

The first time I did it I ran it off an amp too and this time it is a lil different so ya it dose make a lil bit of a difference.

witch 3.6v spot did you use?

Nice psp dude.
I was trying to do some research on transistors but I didn't find any useful info on how they work. I will do more research later
The trasistor looks way better than lm386

Hopefully this becomes the OFFICIAL SR led way so we can throw the crappy LM386 way out the window

I will probably incorporate the transistor in all the SR mods I do from now on. I fried my first mobo w/ the lm386 when i was a n00b

It looks fairly easy to understand to me
I'm pretty sure that everyone will figure out that the emitter leg is the negative for the led

lol
I still can't figure out how I fried that mobo. Maybe cause I soldered wires for the speaker - and + to the actual speaker terminal and wired the 5v to something I shouldn't  have.

As far as the tutorial goes, It looks pretty good, ppl will understand. No need to worry

Yes they will. They will see this topic and do it deliberately lol
Once I pick up the right transistor, I will try it
I may have one in my pile of electronic parts (in a shoe box)

Ya same thing just like LM386n-1 and all that crap, different company's make the same components with slightly different names.

no because the wifi switch is a ground.
