Well i tried to install Linux on my ps3, he first time i tried it gave me an error and said faulty CD or hdd. So i figured it was the CD because the hdd was working perfectly saving music, movies game saves, pictures, and installing new firmware. (is saves the firmware to the hdd to install it) So i burned the CD at 2x the slowest speed possible, It didn't work so then i tried a different brand of Cd's it didn't work. Then i tried burning the iso on a different computer it also didn't work. Then i tried re downloading the iso several different times. Then i tried a list of different places to download the iso from and repeated the steps above it didn't work. Then i formatted the ps3 and repeated the steps above it still dint work same error.
I'm at a loss here i don't know what to do its so frustrating. :censored:
Any help is highly appreciated.

No you can use whatever ps3 linux you want. YDL is the only Sony supported distro though.
