360 Controller LED mod

Just do an LED swap. You desolder the old LEDs and solder on new 0603 smd LEDs.

If you wish to do this you gotta be pretty good with an iron, or atleast used one before so you dont mess something up. The leds in there are 0603 and they are the size of an E on a dime

I did my first set the other day, I was scared of them!!! LOL its not as bad as it looks if you can solder. they are just so small its intimidating. since then, I have done all 4 of my modded controllers
the key is to get the old ones off without dammaging the solder pad, otherwise you must get into the traces. to do this I used my 15w iron and melted the clear lens off, this makes it more flexable and warms everthing up, then heat one side and then the other, I use a slight flick motion with the iron on one side then the other, got them all off with no problems. to put the new ones on, first test the solder pads and mark all the + sides on a piece of paper, (matrix had #1,2,4 positive on top, and #3 positive was on bottom) now take the new led one at a time!!! look closely, there is a small dot (cathidode) on one side this is the negative side. set them in place and touch the iron to one side, then the other, reusing the factory solder, I then added new solder to them one just for good measure. make sure they are in the right way, they wont work if they are backwards. one of mine was slightly crooked, but its ok!!

two irons works good too (one for each side of the part) or if your lucky like me you can find hot tweezers....those are shiiiiizznit!  but a little pricey
