Earphone Help...

Can anybody help me figure out the circuit layout of earphones? I know that there are three different colors, usually red, blue-ish and tan; but I have no ideas as to which ones are the positive and negatives. Since I don't have any tools to check this out, I'm here asking anyone if they can lend a helping hand. 

P.S. I didn't find a general "help" section, so I apologize if I am posting in the wrong board.

Just take the earbuds apart to check. Judging by the colors you said, red and blue would be the positive for the left/right then tan would be common ground.
